I know I have covered this in a previous post, here, but some more details have come to my attention, which really reinforce my point on this policy’s inherent sexist agenda.

Tony Abbott equating maternity leave to men going on holidays. Look, I don’t care if this is yet another “Abbott gaffe.” How many gaffes is a man who may be the Prime Minister very soon even able to afford? Why is someone so supposedly gaffe-prone even in his position? Of course people say stupid things sometimes, but the problem is, that everythingthat comes out of Abbott’s mouth is this stupid. How are we even supposed to know what is a dumb slip of the tongue or serious anymore? I for one am never going to give Tony Abbott the benefit of the doubt, as it is just too much of a risk, especially given his record on sexism. This comment just speaks for its self. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again:this man cannot be trusted to dictate social policy.

According to the Scheme, if the father is nominated as a newborn child’s primary carer, instead of compensating the father’s wage, the father will be paid the mother’s replacement wage. This, according to a Coalition spokesperson, is ”To avoid creating an incentive to make fathers the primary carer if they earn higher salaries than the mother.” The white middle-class “feminists” who rushed to Abbott’s rescue when he was being criticised for the “women of calibre” remark can continue to sing praises about this policy and justify it by saying that Tony wants this so that mums can bond with their babies or something just as asinine, the same “feminists” who conveniently fall into the “women of calibre” income bracket, but the motives behind this policy should be crystal clear by now. Tony Abbott, the man who thinks women “lack the physiology and temperament to exercise authority”, along with a host of other archaic, sexist views, wants women to return to the household, nurturing children and cooking and ironing, so much so, that he is willing to pay them to do it. An actual Parental leave scheme wouldn’t favour one gender over the other.

This man’s sick, twisted, backward vision for this country simply cannot be facilitated.

My family does not support my being in the LGBTQIA community. They actually are opposed to it. They tell me every day that its disgusting and that it’s sinful and I’ll go to hell for liking women.
I moved out when I was seventeen, and in January I moved back in with them because I couldn’t handle everything that was going on. Every day one of my five siblings tells me to go back to Minnesota. My little brother Charlie (the black baby in the picture) is now 8 and he constantly physically attacks me and tells me that I’m not his sister and to leave. My other siblings make it very obvious and clear that they don’t want me here and my parents tell me constantly that they’re gonna kick me out soon.
I’ve been saving every penny for a bus ticket to Oregon to stay with my best friend and today I found this picture in my sisters’ room ON DISPLAY. Not hidden. On display. They cut my face out of the picture.

And that… That was just the last straw.
I don’t care if anyone reblogs this or whatever, I don’t wanna get popular, I just want people to know that this is not what a family looks like. This is not something people should have to go through.

This is no life.
